Work
First day at a new job
Meeting the teammate who happens to be free on your first morning.
What makes this one hard
"What do you do here?" is correct and slightly flat; "What are you working on at the moment?" gets you an actual conversation, because English colleagues introduce themselves by project rather than by post. The bigger adjustment is what you may not ask. Age, university year and where someone sits relative to you — the questions that place a person in Korean — have no polite English equivalent at a first meeting, and people locate each other instead by how long they have been at the company.
