Thanking someone properly

Someone went out of their way for you recently, and a quick thanks was not enough.

What makes this one hard

A bare "thank you so much" is thinner in English than its Korean equivalent feels, because the weight is carried by naming the act and its consequence: thank you for staying late, it meant the thing shipped on Friday. Two clauses, and it stops sounding like a formality. Expect the other person to play it down — that deflection is a courtesy and not a real refusal of your thanks, so the move is to insist once, warmly, rather than to accept the disclaimer and let it drop.
