Running into someone you've met once
Neither of you is quite sure where you met, and both of you are too polite to say so.
What makes this one hard
Admitting the gap is the normal move, not a failure of manners. "Remind me how we know each other?" and "I'm blanking on where we met" are both ordinary and both let the other person do the work cheerfully. Korean speakers tend to over-apologise here, and a long apology makes forgetting seem like a bigger event than it was. One line, said lightly, and the conversation moves on — where an apology invites reassurance and keeps circling.
